Posey County
Sheriff Jim Folz has released the drug and
alcohol related arrest totals for August.
For the eighth consecutive month, alcohol
arrests have topped the list, including nine
arrests for minor in possession of alcohol.
A somewhat surprising increase has been
noted since the first of the year in the
number of alcohol related arrests.
Only six drug related arrests were made last
month, while a total of three meth labs were
seized. Of that total, one of them were
trash labs and two were active.
Eighteen total arrests were made due to
violations caused by the misuse of alcohol.
The most noticeable of the numbers posted
was the nine arrests made for minor in
possession.
Six arrests were made for driving while
intoxicated. Three public intoxication
arrests were reported.
To date, 79 driving while intoxicated
arrests have been made. Thirty-seven people
have been arrested for public intoxication.
Twenty-nine arrests for minor in possession
have been made.
According to the monthly report, 70
drug-related arrests have been posted so far
this year, while 33 labs have been seized.
While the arrest totals are presented by the
Posey County Sheriff’s Office, the arrests
counted are made by the Indiana State
Police, Mount Vernon Police, Indiana
Conservation Officers and Posey County
Sheriff’s Office.
