Posey County
EMS responded to a call last Tuesday morning
when a woman fell from a grain elevator.
Linda Denning, 64, who lived on Bonebank
Road in rural Posey County, fell 15 feet and
sustained fatal injuries.
When EMS arrived at the scene at
approximately 9:16 a.m., Denning was still
alive but she was unconscious according to
EMS Director Chuck Thompson.
At that time, paramedics believed she had
broken ribs. She also sustained multiple
scrapes and cuts from the fall. EMS then
called for airlift support.
Denning was transported to Deaconess
Hospital, and she reportedly got worse on
the flight to the hospital.
She was pronounced dead at 12:41 p.m.
Tuesday afternoon.
According to the coroner’s report, she died
from multiple blunt force trauma injuries to
the chest and cardiac arrhythmia as a result
of the fall.
Denning was helping move a grain elevator
when she lost her grip.
No autopsy was deemed necessary by the
Vanderburgh County coroner who ruled the
death an accident.
“This was a wonderful, church going family.
She was a great wife, mother and
grandmother. This was truly a tragic
accident,” said Posey Sheriff Jim Folz. |
