The Mount Vernon Water Utility Board held a
meeting recently to approve the Countrymark
water agreement and hear about a change in
the chemicals needed at the plant.
After approving the minutes and claims,
Water Superintendent Chuck Gray gave the
board an update on the workings at the Water
Department.
Water Superintendent Chuck Gray opened his
report by telling the board the chemicals
they are currently using come from Brenntag,
as they were awarded the bid last year.
He added that when the turbidity is high, as
it is has been lately, their chemicals do
not seem to work. He said the city almost
needed a boil order recently because of
this.
He then said that he has gone back to using
Delpac since Brenntag’s chemical does not
work. He concluded by stating everything is
fine now, and there was no boil order
issued.
Gray then said that Johnson Controls will be
down at some time in the future to update
the board on the meter replacement project
along with various other updates.
The board also finalized the Countrymark
water agreement.
Utility Board attorney Beth McFadin-Higgins
said an agreement has been signed by
Countrymark and is now ready for board
member signatures.
She added this is for the property and new
building near the wastewater treatment
plant.
The only new business before the board was
the Sitco agreement. Mayor Rosemary Knowles
suggested they table any action for now.
Higgins agreed and added she will get a
letter out to the board members. |
