The Posey County Commissioners met Monday to
review the EMS situation and to approve an
additional for the payment of the bond debt
for the courthouse.
The commissioners asked EMS director Chuck
Thompson to explain what happened the last
week with the Poseyville ambulance
situation.
He explained that the move was supposed to
be a temporary solution to an EMS staffing
problem. With the lack of medics on staff,
he was searching for a way to continue
offering the county the best coverage
possible.
The commissioners agreed they had given
Thompson permission to make the change
before knowing how upset the residents of
Poseyville were.
Thompson said the decision was reversed and
the ambulance remained at the Poseyville
station.
He reviewed the numbers he had researched
with the commissioners to justify the
change.
“I think Chuck does an exceedingly good
job,” said Commissioner John Sherretz.
The commissioners also approved the
advertisement of $86,000 for bond debt and
to send it to the county council. This is
for the bond payment for July and January
for Phase I of work at the courthouse.
The commissioners also approved a change
order for the courthouse renovation. The
change order will not affect the overall
cost of the project. No details were
offered. The items on the list were said to
be minor changes.
Charlie Chambliss then approached the
commissioners about a pending deal the city
of Mount Vernon is working on with SIGECOM.
This deal is for high-speed Internet and
cable television that offers dark fiber that
would potentially allow for arraignments and
video conferencing between the courts and
the jail, among other functions. |
