The MSD of Mount Vernon School Board met
last week to finalize employments for
several staff members and approve tax levies
for next year.
The school board approved the Notice to
Taxpayers of Tax Levies for the 2007 budget
and advertisement for the following funds:
General Fund, Debt Service Fund, Pension
Bond Debt Service Fund, Transportation Fund,
Bus Replacement Fund, Capital Projects Fund,
and Preschool Special Education Fund.
Board members approved the Notice to
Taxpayers of School Bus Replacement Plan for
the years 2007 through 2016.
Resignations were accepted from Tisa Davis,
as a teacher assistant; Susan Rice, as a
summer school teacher; and Trudi Weihrauch,
as a cheerleading sponsor (second stipend).
All resignations are effective immediately.
Board members confirmed the employment of
Lisa Koester, as Educational Diagnostician
for the district; Trudi Weihrauch, as a
summer school teacher at West Elementary
School, Kenneth Miller, as a teacher
assistant/study hall at the high school;
Tara Rusher, as teacher assistant-Special
Education 50 percent at the junior high
school; Eryn Buchanan, as Cheerleader
Sponsor at the junior high school; David
Purvis, as a Student Council Sponsor (1/2
stipend) at the junior high school; and Paul
Sharber, as a custodian at the high school.
Board members confirmed the continued
employment for extra duty positions for the
2006-07 school year, including athletic
coaches, student council, class sponsors,
band, choir, yearbook and journalism, drama
and academic teams.
The board authorized Home School Advisors
Jan Gmutza and Sue Nall to apply for a
continuation grant from the Posey County
Community Foundation Women’s Fund.
This fund is for the Girl Power program. It
promotes healthy life choices for
pre-adolescent girls. The program focuses on
self-esteem, nutrition, careers, manners and
a community service project.
The school board approved the Food Service
Agreement with CAPE Head Start according to
the recommended terms and conditions for the
2006-07 school year.
The next meeting of the MSD of Mount Vernon
School Board will be Aug. 21, at 5:45 p.m.
at the junior high school Media Center.
