Utility
Board learns of leak |
By JAMIE GRABERT
Water Superintendent Chuck Gray reported
there was a boil order issued three weeks
ago. He said it occurred while the
department was putting in a tap, the pipe
busted, and it appears the pipe itself was
defective.
He added they were losing 1,300 gallons per
minute, though it was repaired in the same
day. He also stated for the first time in
the history of the city, the boil order was
only issued for two neighborhoods. He
further stated he is going to have the pipe
analyzed to see if it truly is defective, as
the line was only laid in 2001 and it should
not have happened.
Councilman John Tucker said recalls a period
they went through where they had a lot of
defective pipe. |
