Are you ready for Christmas? If not, on November 27 at 6 p.m. we will help. Get in the spirit with songs, stories and a secret. We will be making a cute Santa gift. This program is open to all members of the family.
On November 28 at 10 a.m. Cheryl Carroll will be at the library to demonstrate how to stitch during our Basic Knitting Program. She will teach casting on, knit and purl, and biding off techniques. Yarn will be provided and a limited number of size 8 needles will be available to borrow from the library. No registration is necessary but space is limited.
Animals of the
One of Santa’s Reindeers will be visiting the Alexandrian Public Library. On November 28 at 6:30 p.m. this is a Silly Safaris event you don’t want to miss. “Jingle John” will be dressed as one of Santa’s elves and will share secrets of life at Santa’s workshop and barn. There will be a live reindeer and other animals and Santa will be available for pictures from 5:45 p.m. until the start of the program. Suitable for all ages and no tickets are needed to attend.
On November 29 at 10 a.m. our adult class in basic drawing concludes for 2012. The objective of this course and those to follow are designed to teach you to see and draw what you see as a recognizable image on paper. The next series of classes will begin January 3, 2013. All supplies are free so you must register in advance.
Crafty elves make original gifts from ordinary things and we know their secret. This December 5 at 10 a.m. you will learn the secret behind creating a lovely string or yarn tree that you can give as a gift or keep to decorate your home. All your supplies will be provided. You must be 18 or older and register at the Adult Information Desk to take part in this program.
Celebrate Christmas With Bells
Join us December 6 at 6 p.m. in a celebration of the holidays as the First United Methodist Church Bell Choir performs a selection of Christmas music with hand bells at the library. This program is suitable for all age groups and if being offered free to the public.
DIY Holiday Cards and Ornaments
Hey teens, show your friends and family how much you appreciate them by making your own holiday cards this December 10 at 3:30 p.m. Also, you can make your own ornaments. We will also have free food and a movie. This program is open to grades 6 to 12 only and you must register to attend.
Join us December 10 at 6 p.m. as Angelus, the six women ensemble from the Fine Arts Academy at Mount Vernon Senior High School, perform a selection of seasonal songs. This performance is suitable for the whole family.
