In order to expand our service to the community, the Alexandrian Public Library has a wall gallery for artists to display their work in our foyer. We are in search of local amateur and professional talent. You need not live in the Mount Vernon area to participate, display and promote your work. We are now accepting requests for this free gallery space for March and April of 2013. Reservations are also being accepted for the use of the library glass display case in our foyer for the coming year.
The Alexandrian Public Library is a wireless “hotspot” in Mount Vernon. High-speed access is available throughout the inside of the library, as well as the space outside of the library on the block bounded by 5th, 6th, College and Main streets. Individuals who need Internet access outside of normal library hours, such as businesspeople visiting the city’s industries, can sit in their cars in the parking lot and access high-speed Internet. Patrons are always invited to enjoy their lunch in the outside gazebo, and can now also surf the Internet on their laptops.
Alexandrian Public Library is open Monday – Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For additional information about library services or to register for a library program call 838-3286 or you can visit our website at http://www.apl.lib.in.us .
