The
Posey County Commissioners meeting was
headlined by the return of Commissioner
Scott Moye after a medication-induced
stroke.
The
meeting was then called to order and
Commissioner Jim Alsop retained his duty to
preside over the meeting.
The
first item on the agenda was a request from
RATIO Architecture for use of the GIS system
to complete its work for the comprehensive
plan.
Commissioner John Sherretz said the only
problem he had was that they should not get
it for free. He said that the county has a
$750 fee for that information and that the
money helps pay for the maintenance fee.
The
commissioners will send the firm an
agreement. Once that is signed and returned,
along with the fee, the board will provide
the GIS information requested.
The
commissioners also discussed the 17 leaks on
the roof of the coliseum. The roof is still
under warranty.
Industrial Contractors did the repair work
previously. They said they will provide the
county with a statement for what was and
what was not covered under the warranty,
which is up in August.
The
cap around the roof is also leaking. The
county commissioners have asked for a quote
on recapping the whole building.
The
commissioners also discussed surplus
equipment. SRI made rounds recently looking
at equipment the county wanted to get rid
of. The representative reportedly took
filing cabinets and said he was going to put
them on eBay for 10 days.
Four cars were also added to the list to be
sold, while old computers will be disposed
of properly.
County clerk Donna Butler then spoke to the
commissioners about telephone matters.
She
said there is a phone line in the clerk’s
office that Butler needs to have one jack
deactivated and one jack activated for the
Election Office.
Chief deputy recorder Martha Breeze asked
the commissioners asked for a line or a jack
in the room with the new scanner for
equipment support.
County surveyor Paul Breeze then spoke up
and said that since switching to AT&T, his
call waiting feature does not work properly.
Sherretz asked about Butler’s using the
Perpetuation Fund to pay for the work on the
phone lines.
Butler then asked about Internet service for
the clerk’s office and voter registration.
She said the clerk’s office needs the
service for child support and matters with
the state, while the election office needs
it for voter registration matters.
She
said she also needs a new computer monitor.
This will be paid for out of the
Perpetuation Fund.
